Group meeting and departure by GT Bus for Bormio, with departures set at 05:30 AM from Ancona and 06:00 AM from Senigallia. Technical stops will be made along the way. Free time for lunch upon arrival in Bormio, a charming alpine village set within a unique medieval historical center, located at 1,225 meters above sea level in the heart of Upper Valtellina. Late November may brings the first snowfalls and the magical lead-up to winter, turning the town into a true Christmas postcard. The beating heart of the village becomes the historic Piazza del Kuerc, hosting the traditional Christmas Markets. Among cozy, illuminated wooden chalets, visitors can discover local crafts, warm up with mulled wine, and taste typical Valtellina specialties like sciatt and traditional pizzoccheri pasta. Enjoy a stroll and free time to soak in the Christmas magic among the market stalls or explore the town independently. In the late afternoon, board the bus for the transfer to Tirano. Located in Valtellina right near the Swiss border, Tirano is a picturesque historic town world-famous as the terminus of the Bernina Express. Hotel check-in and, time permitting, a walking tour of Tirano's town center to admire the majestic Sanctuary of Madonna di Tirano. Built in 1505 and considered one of the greatest Renaissance masterpieces in Lombardy, it is particularly famous for its monumental 17th-century organ carved entirely from wood. Starting from Tirano, this railway in the sky climbs the Alps without a cogwheel, mastering extraordinary gradients and delivering an uninterrupted sequence of breathtaking landscapes. Throughout the ride, our expert nature guide will explain the technical and scenic wonders unfolding outside the windows: from the famous and ingenious Brusio Circular Viaduct to the turquoise waters of Lake Poschiavo, all the way up to 2,253 meters at the Bernina Pass, where views stretch across glaciers and towering peaks of the Bernina range. Arrival in St. Moritz around 11:00 AM.
